Do’s 

  • Bring a day sack with you so you can have your important things close to you in the car.

  • Bring travel sick pills if you are bothered by mountain roads

  • Bring your battery pack and a european adapter.

  • Get cash if you need it in Zagora as it is the last stop for cash. Cash is needed for tipping, camels and if you go out and about around Mhamid.

  • Bring sunscreen and re-hydration salts

  • In the winter months bring thermals with you for sleeping

  • Pack a head torch.

  • Bring your passport

  • Talk to the staff about there culture.

  • Go for a walk in the dunes and climb the highest one for a different view.

  • Take a guide around Ait Ben Haddou.

  • Get snacks in Ourzazate.

  • Buy a turban in Zagora.

  • Visit the Tamengroute pottery on the way and if open the Quranic museum.

  • Go to the old oasis of Mhamid with your driver and visit the women’s co-operative and the casbah museum at Moulay Idriss.

  • Drink lots of water.

  • Enjoy the energy of the Sahara and its silence.

  • Meditate on a dune.

 

 

Don’ts 

  • try to do loads of emails!

  • think too much about life “at home”

  • leave any litter in the dunes.

  • use too much water.

  • forget to drink water!

  • leave the lights on in the tents.

  • walk up the dunes in the morning without taking sandles. You will burn your feet on the way back.

  • take photos without asking first.
